How does a parabolic flight work?
A parabolic flight is an experimental flight that requires a mandatory physical examination by a flight surgeon before. The participants experience weightlessness several times.
How this works can be explained by simple physics:
Initially the modified plane flies horizontally with maximum speed and then climbs straight up. In this phase you experience Hypergravity with up to 2.5 G, which is equivalent to more than double of the self-weight and feels as if you are pushed to the ground. This phase lasts for appx. 25 seconds.
During the transition phase the Hypergravity changes into Microgravity with 0 G, which means your body has lost his weight and you can float through the airplane and feel weightlessness. This phase lasts for approx. 25 seconds.
After that, the plane sinks in an angle of 45° und reaches Hypergravity again, so you will sit on the plains’ floor. After approximately 2 minutes the magic starts again…
Overall, there will be 30 parabolas flown so the weightlessness can be felt 30 times.
